Hi Employer, Have You Met Your New Partner in Workplace Safety?

Updated: Jun 12, 2023

Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?

It was a bright and sunny day in May 2009 when I walked into the Tampa Area OSHA office with no safety experience, just a mechanical engineering degree and no clue what I was getting into. Nonetheless, I was now a Safety Engineer / Compliance Officer / Safety Inspector who would be enforcing OSHA law and regulations.

After over a decade, multiple trips to the OSHA Training Institute in Chicago, and hundreds of inspections and citations, I found myself at a crossroad. Though my work product and work ethic was of high quality and I was blessed with great benefits, amazing job flexibility and a more than decent salary, I was not fulfilled in my career.

Not only did I recognize the need to continue doing this work in a different capacity, but business ownership was heavy on my mind. Then it hit me! Shara, the work you have been doing all these years is important and your unique knowledge and experience would be so valuable in the private sector/consulting arena. (Yes, I give myself pep talks occasionally.)

Yep! Me, the girl who stayed in the same cubicle for 13 years while others played musical cubicles around her (an anomaly of the job-hopping millennial generation), left the only career job I knew.

This is the moment OSHA Response Assistant, affectionately called OSHARA, was born. Because, OSHA + Shara = OSHA R.A. Definition: Leveraging specialized knowledge and experience as an OSHA Compliance Safety & Health Officer (CSHO) to keep businesses and their employees safe by helping them respond to occupational safety and health regulations and citations.

As a CSHO, I saw that one of the biggest challenges faced by business owners is balancing the need for safety compliance with the demands of running a business. It can be overwhelming to try to manage both at the same time. That's why OSHA Response Assistant offers this solution: a dedicated Safety Manager and OSHA Consultant wrapped into one.

By partnering with OSHA Response Assistant, you will have a safety manager who will work with you to develop and implement a safety program that meets your specific needs. I also provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure that your program continues to be effective over time.

In addition, if you ever receive an OSHA citation, I help you respond quickly and effectively. I use my experience to help you navigate the citation process to minimize the impact on your business.

Don't let the details of a safety program distract you from focusing on your core business. Let me be your partner in workplace safety.
